the Texas Declaration of Independence and Republic of Texas Secretary of the Navy), Benjamin Selman (Cherokee County's first elected state legislator), and
Col. Peter (Pedro) Ellis Bean (Anglo-Mexican Texan and Mexican Army Colonel who served under Morelos in the Mexican Revolution). Lived in over 30 locations in
the former territories of New Spain, the Republic of Mexico, and the Republic of Texas (Bowie, Titus, Gregg, Rusk, Jasper, Angelina, Cherokee, Nacogdoches,
Wharton, Cass, Harris, Parmer, Delta, Tarrant and Galveston Counties). Besides Texas lived in states of Florida, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma and Oregon, and
abroad in Switzerland and Sweden.
