Descendant of Anglo-Mexican Texas DeWitt colonist families Burket, Zumwalt and Kent who were citizens of Spain in the Territory of Missouri, Mexico in colonial Mexican Texas and then the Republic of Texas. Kin to Fannin associate and Texian emissary to the USA, Capt. Augustus H. Jones, Samuel Rhodes Fisher (signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and Republic of Texas Secretary of the Navy), Benjamin Selman (Cherokee County's first elected state legislator), and Col. Peter (Pedro) Ellis Bean (Anglo-Mexican Texan and Mexican Army Colonel who served under Morelos in the Mexican Revolution). Lived in over 30 locations in the former territories of New Spain, the Republic of Mexico, and the Republic of Texas (Bowie, Titus, Gregg, Rusk, Jasper, Angelina, Cherokee, Nacogdoches, Wharton, Cass, Harris, Parmer, Delta, Tarrant and Galveston Counties). Besides Texas lived in states of Florida, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma and Oregon, and abroad in Switzerland and Sweden.
